Dynoed the M30 saturday

Post by jim325 »

Thanks to Peter, Scott, and Rob for their help!

Guess I picked a bad day. It was pretty cold. Had a bunch of problems with tire spin and then crappy springs making the rear squate too much and tires rubbed at 12 or 13 psi. I think it's set at about 9-10 psi. Electronic boost control is working good.

Ill try n persuade Peter to make me a better, more accurate dyno graph. I spent a lot of time sitting on the trunk so no videos.

Pretty sure we got it tuned for 12-13 psi so once I get some stiffer springs ill turn the boost upto 12-13 and see how it does. Feels good now tho.

Need to adjust the cold idle some. Engine was too hot so we just got the warm idle set really good. It takes forever and a day for this car to cool down so we prolly would have been there for 3 extra hours if we let it cool down to get the cold idle set.

Pretty much stock M30B34. JE forged pistons, mls, arp, good n tight mani, flipped tb, 42lbhr injectors, ebay t4 turbo. Didn't do too bad I suppose.

That's some good #s at the wheel for sure..

Didn't you have a build thread at one point too? I did a quick search but battery is drained and still on vacation- wanted to check out that ebay turbo.... Not that I'm cheap or anything :-)

I wouldnt say i ever had a build thread. Usually just a bunch of bad questions scattered around about stuff i forgot after the engine was apart for so long. Wiring questions and such.

Wish I woulda done a build thread. But nah, not really.

Yeh, im pretty happy that turbo worked as well as it did. Eventually ill upgrade. Most likley one of TCD's if we can put one together that will hold torque and horsepower as well as this one does.

Would have been worth running it higher. HP wasn't quite done climbing.

Glad that you were happy, hopefully you had a good experience at our shop. When you tackle that rear squat issue and do some final ironing of the setup, i'm sure it'll be a great play car. If Peter is to busy I can possibly grab a different dyno chart for you, many were taken and I believe some were run to a high RPM.

That would be great if you wanna make me a graph. Didn't we take boost readings while we were on there? I wasent really sure.

Hopefully the graph I posted wasent totally out of wack and the boost I stated was close to accurate :/

Yes boost pressures were logged during all of your runs, let me know which of the runs you would possibly want. I can put afr, and boost or either or. Let me know which run you would like to see, and if you want it to include afr or boost or both. I can e-mail you the file, or post it on here for you.

If you would be so kind to post it here that would be great. Ill just save the picture, print it and frame it later :p .

I guess just post the graph that makes my last one not so off. If you have one with the boost we left it at that would be great. Prolly include boost rather than afr if that's easier.

The car definetly feels great. This is the first car I have owned with anything close to 300 hp by far.

A few years ago I drove a friends STI that was pretty much stock. I think that is what really pushed me to get something turbo.

I'm just glad I didn't give up on this like I was on the verge of so many times.

If christmas wasent right around the corner I would have ordered some springs already and see what it feels like at 12 psi. Pretty sure Peter said I should be able to get atleast 350hp/390tq at 12 psi. wwweeeeeeeee

I envy you. I wish I was at that stage of my own project. It still needs so much more time before I can finaly drive it.

Congrats man.
