Just for fun E28 In Movies

Post by vadread »

Just though it would be fun to see how many people have spotted E28s in different movies. The rules are as follows:

1. Only E28s
2. Name the Movie
3. Name the actor/actress who drove the car (if applicable).
4. Name the role of the car (if applicable)
5. An IMDB link would be nice to have.
6. It can be any movie foreign or domestic, large or small budget, independent or major studio.

I'll start this off:

I.
1. Movie= Machete
2. Actor/Actress= Jessica Alba
3. Car Role= It was her car she drove it everywhere
4. Link = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0985694/

II.
1. Movie= Killer Elite
2. Actor/Actress= Jason Statham
3. Car Role= He used it for cover in like Guatemala or something.
4. Link = http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1448755/

Yup. Just do a search on 'coldplay' and you can find all the other discussions about e28s in movies and on TV.

I never realized that when I watched The Mothman Prophecies, it would be the reason I one day owned my own E28. A few months back I looked up the E28 on IMCDb and came across the movie and it all clicked.

Perhaps someone else had the same seed planted in this manner?

I think he was being facetious (colloquially, "trolling") ;)

I bought a creepy porno from the bargain bin at the adult book store one time. About 2 min into the opening credits there's an e28 driving down the road. That car was better than the rest of the movie.

That looks more like an e23 than an e28. Plus the seven would be more suited to the Mary Kay Pink Car Club than the five. ;)

Nope. Turn signals in the bumper. Only other at the time like that was E30, but it lacked the sharky front end.

Frantic - 1988/Polanski
Lengthy scene with a dark e28 in their rear view mirror leaving the airport en route back to the hotel. It's so close that you'd think it was trailing them, but it was just a tailgater I guess. Shot in Paris so I guess that's just how they drive.

James Bond "Octopussy" (1983)

Approx 2-3 police car e28s used in chase.
According to "complex" they were 1982 e28 518i's.

Let's face, there's no new information available, everything has been covered elsewhere on the internet.

My son & I watched Cockneys vs. Zombies on Netflix last night, and were slightly shocked to see that one of the main characters drove an e28. RHD, 520i. It gets a nice dent in the hood courtesy of some hoodlum with a steel plate in his head.

Just watched Point Break on blue ray for the 1st time & was pleasantly surprised to see an e28 right over Utah's shoulder. With this being 1 of my favorite movies, I can't see how I never noticed. I guess finally getting to blue ray & HDMI is paying immediate benefits. Sidebar: this clip doesn't show the e28, it ends right before it appears.

I remember in Splash Tom Hanks rallying a 528e pretty hard. Delphin grey and it stuck with me that it was fast. Didn't look for video.

Not e28's but Back to The Future series has some nice older BMWs in it. I have always wondered the source of my e28/BMW car-love, I've narrowed it down to seeing those cop cars as a 13 year old on a Germany trip in the mid 90's, and/or Back to the Future which is a top movie of mine, when Biff is waxing George's 7 Series.

It's "winning" defined.
