I've seen heatsoak issues, giving false readings. I suggest placement in a charge piping. I have seen the plastic bodied ones that seal with a rubber grommet work quite well.
Mine has been in the intake opposite the TB, never had issues with hot starts. Once you have air flowing over it, it's fine. IMO it should be in the intake, it's more accurate of reading the actual temp entering the engine.
