WWOT/WTF: 745i stock 02 sensor

Post by Nebraska_e28 »

Where might I find a diagram of how the stock 02 sensor ties into the wiring of a 745i? Does it actually do anything? I have a rats nest in the lower right kick panel of my e23. Something is going to change fast.... TexFest is around the corner and I'm smelling blood. Sharks in the water!

ps... TIA

It doesn't do a thing. I vote gutting it and putting the wiring back to stock.

Didn't the voltage from the O2 sensor manipulate the coolant temp sensor reading to the DME?

I don't think the O2 sensor has been hooked up on mine since I've had it.

The o2 sensor that would have been added during Federalization goes to a "Johnson Box." Likely in your rats nest. These boxes tied into several wires in the harness but actually interrupted the signal from the coolant temperature sensor, which is what made them "work." I removed these from all of my cars fitted with them and the car ran considerably better. I didn't touch the 745 though.
