I installed my new BMW idler arm this morning, it sure does drive better. The lemforder one I removed with at most 4k miles was wasted. The BMW part has a much more robust looking bushing, I could feel a difference in weight between the two. The casting itself is nicer looking as well.
I had one lemförder for 5000 km, one Meyle for 4000 km. Then ordered an E32 735i factory one, this lasts more than 15000 km now... The big rims are killing the aftermarket toys.

This week I decided to do some maintenance to the car, the motor/trans/diff mounts are pretty crusty so it was time to change them. I ordered them all from the dealer so hopefully they'll last the next 20-30 years. The motor mounts and diff mount were both marked 84 and someone replaced the trans mount's were marked 96 so they're up to 20 years old.
I test drove the car today with the new mounts, brake hoses and brake fluid flush, it feels more precise and the brakes are more touchy but in a good way. This heap is getting really close to being dialed in.
Last night I removed the everything to get at the waterpump and decided to dig deeper and fix the long time minor oil leaks coming from the timing cover seals and oil pan. I'm going to remove the subframe and reinforce it at the same time. While I had the steering arms removed I smoothed out the castings out of boredom. I'll drop off everything to be blasted tomorrow and paint the garbage when I get it back.
Timing chain guide is worn so I'll replace that too.
