Hi everyone,
I'm not new to e28s--I owned 'Helmut', an '88 528e, for about 10 years before it was totaled (not by me) this summer--but I am new to diesel cars (I replaced it with 'Ludwig', an '85 524td) and new to this board.
In any case, I am wondering what oils you all use in your tds. Do you use oils specifically formulated for diesel engines? What weight? I assume you don't use synthetic, but I read recently that it was a myth that synthetics were bad for older engines, so maybe you do.
Any recommendations?
What oil do you put in your td?

Any 15W40 diesel oil will work fine. I like Valvoline Blue or Chevron Delo.

Thanks Kyle! I hope that all is well in New Orleans--one of the world's truly great cities.

I use Amsoil synthetic 15w-40. It's a very high quality oil.
