What should my m30b34 be making at 15psi?

Post by Logan1994 »

Ok here is my setup.. m30b34 mls, arps, 42lb injectors, intank walbro 255, comp 61mm turbo .58 ar, megasquirt ms2, tial wastegate with 10psi spring, manual boost controller, and a/a intercooler. I just got it tuned locally on 15psi. The numbers are 270whp and 312lb of torque on a mustang dyno. To me it seems low but figured I would ask. Tuner said my injectors are maxed out and suggested some 1000cc injectors before turning up the boost. Now I have seen that some people say the 42lb injectors are good til about 350whp. Any help is appreciated.. may have to dumb it down for me to understand but I will try. My plan is to push the motor to the edge maybe 20+ psi.

What manifold? TCD manifold makes a consistent 345/395 at 15psi on a Dynojet. No way the 42lbers are maxed out. If tubular manifold, power level is higher and the Mustang Dyno readings are way way low. 100lb injectors are a stupid suggestion and that makes me wonder about your tuner. 60lbers are more than enough.

The manifold is custom doesn't look nice but I guess it works I don't know who made it.The tuner is local and is more of an Asian tuner evos and subarus. I tried finding some other tuners as well but the few I talked to didn't want to mess with megasquirt and he said he would do it. Yeah I figured from my research that 60lb injectors would be plenty for what I plan. Now I'm wondering if I'm having issues with the motor as well since it probably has 200k or more on it.

Have you done a compression test?

15psi is twice the air, so it "should" make twice the power. Depending on your elevation.

Efficiency is always better so they do at least 2.25x

Can you post a datalog of a dyno run that indicates the injectors are maxed out?

If engine is healthy and the injector duty cycle is indeed maxed out I would start looking at fuel supply. Are you confident fuel pressure was maintained during tuning?

I don't know if fuel pressure was monitored. I should just install a fuel pressure gauge so I can monitor it. I will try get ahold of the tuner to see if he can datalog a full pull. Or I may try it myself with my tablet
