Minerva: The S54 powered, better than new, E28
Re: Project Minerva: S54 powered E28 daily driver
Re: Project Minerva: S54 powered E28 daily driver
$1,400 for a ricey hot air intake seems a bit steep.
Re: Project Minerva: S54 powered E28 daily driver
A bit of progress. Bracketology & Such, hence the motor's back out.
Power steering brackets removed.
E34 540i coolant overflow bracket fabricated...incorrectly. The way they did it, the ABS pump won't fit. One step forward two back, or something like that. Anyway we now have a plan of how to address that correctly.

I would think that before a bracket like that is even attached, they should know where all the brake lines go since it isn't just the ABS unit that is going to be in the way, but the 50,000 brake lines running over there that have to be affixed to the inner fender and all of the brackets for those, too.

That bracket definitely looks terrible. Good thing they welded it to the body.

Cek, sent you an email, let me know if I can help..

BBS RZ 394 (8.5x16 ET13 5x120)
From Frank Franker in Austria or Hungary or wherever he really is. https://www.facebook.com/powderwheels/
Cost less, shipped, than any of the sets I've been watching on eBay for months. Worksmanship appears top notch. Including the center cap stickers (two sets), chrome valve stems, and a center cap wrench.
Packing was amazing. I've never seen wheels so well packed. Amazing, actually.
Took over a month longer to get them than he originally promised, but will buy from again.

Beautiful wheel choice, and good to know about the seller and his careful packing skills (I was looking at his facebook page). I love the fat lip on those RZ's.

They looked awesome in your text but are even more impressive on the big boy screen. I can't wait to see them on the car.
Re: Project Minerva: S54 powered E28 daily driver
The wheels look great Charlie! I like the center caps. That packaging is stout!

Re: Project Minerva: S54 powered E28 daily driver
I think I mentioned my paint and bodywork guy, Ken, has returned to the world of working for someone else and thus can't take on this project as planned.
This make me sad and a little mad.
Thus, I'm exploring other options. Meeting people. Wining and dining. Mostly whining.
Today I had a high end shop that does Audi, Porsche, BMW repair that I've had insurance work done at before look at the chassis and work up a rough quote. He mentioned some numbers of other "complete" jobs he's done and I developed heart palpitations. He'll get me the real quote Tuesday.
I've seen a few of those cars and they absolutely meet my standards. So we'll see...

A few little things.
The new support for the overflow tank has been fabricated. I had them make it removable to ease access to the headlights (and ABS unit if needed).
Z3M wiring harness mounted:
The car was formerly an automatic so a mount for the rear of the shift console needs to be fabbed. There was some confusion as to why there wasn't the old mount there... I never really noticed this chassis never had a 5-speed. The VIN proves out that it was born an automatic. Please ignore potato photo showing temporary trans mount.

FAKE NEWS
Re: Project Minerva: S54 powered E28 daily driver
Here's some not fake, good news:
Ken has quit his job. He's building a new shop and I get to be his first new customer.
He's fixing a few chips in Vlad as we speak.
Things are moving sloooowly on the S54 fitting though. I've just been so freaking busy that I can't even hound the guys working on. He's probably waiting for me to bring him some part I forgot about.
