I am considering a BMW Diesel project. I can find a 2.4 liter TD engine. However, I would lke to know if you can use a 2.7 liter ETA block and transplant the 2.4 liter TD head crank and rods? Does anyone know a diesel expert to whom I can ask that question, or have the answer to that question?
Better yet does anyone know where I can find a 2.8 liter TD engine that is rebuildable?
My plans are to put the engine in a E30 or the E28 that I already own.
Thanks in advance,
Bill Mahaffey

better off to sell it
i think the costs are going ot be quite high and outwieght the advantages of running diesel, so you're better off selling your engine to me so i can put it in my 524TD LOL

interested
I'm very interested in the car if it's with reason. My MSN is hickster23@hotmail.com
I'm going to guess that you can't because the pistons are what determine the compression ratio. It sounds like you are planning on using the pistons and block from the 2.7L engine. This will probably give you a compression ratio that you can use with petrol, not diesel. I'm not an expert, but I vote no. If you get custom pistons, then it would work. Good luck.
