not allot going on in here
Did you guys sorta put all e28 turbo activities on hold or whats the deal. come on talk to me.
i know e28s are super rare and all anyway. i can't remember when i've seen one driving around
forget about a modded one even driving around.

Re: not allot going on in here
Work + Marriage + Dog + New House have all gotten in the way of doing any modding recently...I'm also generally happy with how my car is running.
I wanted to move to a bigger turbo this past winter but getting my M3 back on the road took priority.
I had back and forth conversations with Burns Stainless on primary header size and length for building a twin scroll out of 321 SS for a GTX4088R. I mounted a mock up motor on a stand and had headers flanges water jetted but that's about as I made it before other projects got in the way.
Maybe this summer.

I've been thinking the same. Damn quiet up in here on the boost front. There's a little m106 brewing here in SoCal. First start is almost in sight.
Re: not allot going on in here
Forums are dying in general, replaced by content on social media that isn't easily found. Still a wealth of knowledge here available for search.
All I know is that after having a boosted M30 at altitude and stock S38B35, the M30 is more livable as a DD, cheaper for spare parts, and better performing in general. Maybe that's why I have 2 spare M30 turbo manifolds and turbos sitting on my work bench

Re: not allot going on in here
There are just trends with car's values, Owner's ages, online enthusiasm etc. Modern technology has made it cost foolish/prohibitive to choose an e28 as a turbo project. 99% of potential Owner's buy some modern turbo variant and do a tune or bolt ons and still have a modern car to drive. It's just reality.
Re: not allot going on in here
I am not pleased with new vehicles. A lot of looks to never last junk to me. Sure, some stuff is just simply better but the car as a whole isn't better. The E28 doesn't track you when you're driving it like new black box savvy vehicles. E28 I suspect will continue being interesting for people. I'd love to turbo my E28 someday!

It’s been at least 18 months for me.
Re: not allot going on in here
I’ve been refining this 535is/M106 all winter. She’s scheduled to go on a dyno May 2, so we’ll see how healthy she is.
Re: not allot going on in here
Where in Wisconsin? Looks nice.
Re: not allot going on in here
Ha! That was last summer, a bit north of Milwaukee. Not so nice here at the moment. But that means there’s time for projects!
Re: not allot going on in here
I meant the car looks nice. I live in Mequon.

Oh, thanks!

Re: not allot going on in here
Here's a wierd fact: I see more skyline GTRs every day on my commute (3 R32s) than I've seen e28/e24s (other than my own) in the past 3 months. I barely see e30s anymore either. Kind of sucks but also makes me appreciate my own more so as there seem be fewer of these cars around, let alone boosted ones.
Re: not allot going on in here
I agree with a lot of what has been said above. I see a lot of people around just going the route of buying something newer or factory turbocharged. The M30 is a great boost motor, but with the M5X based motors doing what they are doing now, with the newer technology and better flow its hard to beat.
I still have my car but life does get in the way. hoping to go megasquirt this year and i need to do something other than my stock head gasket. its tough to pull apart a good running and fast car though....

I'd be interested to read an update. If it's running good, yeah why not just keep driving it as is??tcturbo91 wrote:I agree with a lot of what has been said above. Re: not allot going on in here
I've really enjoyed not working on my car lately. I plan to redo the paint next, but thats a couple grand, so i'll probably hold off for a bit longer. I took it out last weekend and it's all working good, so I just want to savor this moment. I fixed an oil leak on the front cover that had I chased for a year! Man that leak just made me feel so defeated for so long, until I finally realized where it was coming from.
I have learned so much from this forum. Thanks to everybody here.

Re: not allot going on in here
I'm still constantly playing with mine. All new turbo setup 2 years ago. Just finishing up a twin pump FST for e85. Still have a lot of tuning and eventually take it all back apart to complete the rough draft build after I tune the setup that I have going on now. It's been a drive able car for the most part for years now. But as others have said, life gets in the way. I've got two little girls now, 2&4, so I'm lucky to have spurts of time to knock out projects and upgrades on the car.
