Anyone want to trade their E28 M5 for an E30 M3?
Anyone want to trade their E28 M5 for an E30 M3?
Considering trading my E30 M3 after 12+ years with it...
Re: Anyone want to trade their E28 M5 for an E30 M3?
What sort of shape is it in?
I don't want to trade for an E30, but I totally will if I could sell it and retire early.

We need some pictures first, I'm not sure I've seen your car. Shame we didn't have this discussion back in February
Re: Anyone want to trade their E28 M5 for an E30 M3?
I can go through the extensive details of the 12+ years of my ownership of this M3 with anyone who is truly interested in this potential trade. The very basics are that it is a factory Henna on Black 6/87-built US spec M3, only street driven, ~83k miles with regular mileage updates on Carfax, no snow or salt, original S14 engine, not rebuilt. It was repainted by a family member who runs one of the biggest body shops in Atlanta, clear over enamel, nicely done. Evo front spoiler. Reuter Motorsport springs and Koni SA’s. 16x8” BBS RK’s with new Toyo T1-R’s in 225/45/16. VSR center section with Stromung muffler. Lots of brand new stuff, including smoked Hella euro ellipsoids, euro grills, tons of new trim parts and clips when repainted, headliner, genuine red Evo seat belts, leather Recaro Pole Positions on sliders, small diameter MTech2 steering wheel.... I can keep going. This car is my old friend, and it has travelled around the US with me. I just don’t use it as much as I should because I have kids and it is far less practical than a 4 door when it comes to baby seats and so on. And, of course, the S14 needs to be driven “with commitment” which is not responsible to do when the family is on board.
I have had the car a long time and have records for all my expenses, lots of photos, details etc.

I know. That’s when I started to think about a trade...!tschultz wrote:We need some pictures first, I'm not sure I've seen your car. Shame we didn't have this discussion back in February

You had me at Henna! I will trade you 3 of mine for it. Sorry, no M5.

I see the utility you would gain from the 4door E28, but isn't the S14 is just 2/3 of the S38?Low Level wrote: And, of course, the S14 needs to be driven “with commitment”.
Perhaps my 533i or very low mileage M535i would be more appropriate. I can even through in a set of M-system wheels (sans covers) that I bought from you a few years ago.

Interesting proposal. I'd love to see some pictures.

What a bummer they didn't stay with single stage. Is the car located in Atlanta?Low Level wrote:It was repainted by a family member who runs one of the biggest body shops in Atlanta, clear over enamel

I chose the clear coat myself.
I’m in Colorado.

Interesting..... Someone used to the large-ish, not-so-nimble, more comfort-oriented nature of the M5 might pine for the raw, agile experience of the E30 M3. And vice versa. And now that E28 M5 values have shot up, the idea of a trade makes an awful lot of sense. All that said, and as much as I would love to have an E30 M3 in my barn, I wouldn't be able to part with my M5!
Re: Anyone want to trade their E28 M5 for an E30 M3?
I'm moderately interested. I'm just putting mine back together after paint and buying it out of 10 years of storage from and acquaintance. My kids are grown up now and I have been building a 535is for while that I will daily. PM Me
Re: Anyone want to trade their E28 M5 for an E30 M3?
I know you will find yourself a trader at some point Low Level. With the premium that e30 M3's still trade at over E28 M5's I would feel horrible not throwing some of the 20K difference in cash value to you with the value of my M5 vs your M3. The M3's seem to be worth about 15 to 20-% more equal condition to M5's and M6's. Probably due to the racing heritage. Unfortunately I am not the guy with that kind of money.

Bumping this up.
