Conforti performance chip

Post by Josez45 »

I'm trying to chip my 1984 528e with the conforti performance chip. In order for the chip to work on my 84 it needs the "newer" green label ecu. However when I install a green label ecu in the car (with or without the performance chip) it does not run well. The car will bog and sometimes die under acceleration. I have tried two different green label ecus and I'm having the same problems with both. When I put the original yellow label ecu in the car, it returns to running normally. Anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

Don't know about the color, but IIRC the early one is a 007, which is not chipable, the later one is a 027, which is and what you want. What are your numbers. (it starts with something like 0261 200 ...) But the last 3 digits are what are commonly used. Of course that's the Bosch number, not the BMW number so you won't find it on Realoem.

Oh well, I was hoping for a simple mismatch, that's all I've got.
