They are probably E39 rims by looking at the numbers on the picture :)
Those need to be used with a hub centric adapter ring

E38 style 5 wheels should be. There ain't no e39 wheel like that in 16. 16x8et23 but good try ringmaster

I was told by the guy that I purchased the wheels from that these came on his E34 when he bought it. Car was said to be bone stock, no mods. His E34 was imported from Europe and it is his daily driver. I saw them on the car and off the car, so I can only go by what I was told.

when I did a search, I do see that E34's did have options for 16's.

I saw a set of these on an e24 in UK, so let's say this....

definitely not E39 wheels.... looks more like they fit, E23, E24, E28, E32, E34 E38, and E30 M3 fitment.

Agreed, the hubcaps are a dead giveaway.

E34's came with 15" mostly and if they were true 16's from E34 generation, the center caps would be a waffle. Lastly, the year marking I think I read is 98 or 99 which again supports E38 wheels.

I'm 99% sure they are e39 ones and not the e38 ones.
E39 ones are 16x7, E38 ones are 16x8. If you can't see the part number you can tell by a very very small lip on the end of the basketweave pattern.

E39 would require a larger hub center on the wheels about 2mm larger than the E38 wheel. Should be relatively easy for you to determine.

Now y'all got me curious, so I measured, the wheel hub is 72.46mm on my micrometer or digital caliper, whichever you want to call it.

I will do it again and post pics soon.

E39 would measure around 74mm.
I've only seen E38 use that hubcap. :dunno:

Not the correct hubcap for them anyway since the alignment mark on the wheel has no corresponding mark on the hubcap. And what about that hub measurement? Heck, I can't even tell if we're discussing the gold wheels or the silver wheels, but it sure appears we've combined what maybe should have been two different threads. :brickwall:

Of course 7x16 is an E39 wheel. I have them on two E28s—with hubcentric rings. The hubcaps caused the confusion.

Hahah I had both on my e28, that why I recognized them.
