Hi Andrew,

Apologies - I could see your inquiry but was having issues logging in to reply.

The rear mounting portion of the e34 M5 grille emblem is different in shape to the e28 one. They are not direct replacements for one another. Last I checked, the e34 version was available new still with the 51142230389 part number. If it has since gone NLA I'd be happy to re-produce these if someone can send me a used core to work from.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah that is the part number i have been looking for, and everywhere i have looked it is listed as NLA. I can only find one online on eBay and that guy wants $250! for the thing....definitely some money to be made there by someone if they could make a replica. And maybe sell it to ECS, Turner, Pelican etc and use their sales channels to drive m ore sales.

Hi,

Thanks for the interest - I have limited capacity to produce these at the moment, but will put a few together over the coming few weeks for those interested. With shipping, expect a turnaround of about ~3-4 weeks. I'll touch base via pm shortly.

Just a push for these products. I ordered two and they are better than the OEM ones on my cars.

Anyone who wants one will be very happy with the product!

I have 2 I bought for my ///M5s but sold both cars before they got installed.
I'd be happy to pass them on at my original purchase price + shipping.
Shoot me a PM if interested.

Thanks for the positive feedback ya'll, I do appreciate it.

I am about to begin production on the final batch of these. They'll likely be ready to ship early in '24, and yes - I'll happily send them worldwide.

For those interested, reach out by PM or replying to this thread and I'll get in touch once they're good to go.

Price is the same as the last run:

$90USD delivered worldwide and $75USD for each additional.

Cheers,

Christian.

I own two already but would like to buy another if you can get the chrome "M5" to shine like the old ones. At certain angles the chrome goes visually flat and looks kinda dark grey to me. It's hard to describe. I'm not sure if your chrome applied finish is the same as what the factory used, it might also me the the shape of the "M5" Yours is dead flat with sharp edges, where as the old ones had some roundness to them that might reflect light better.

Anyway, not a big deal and love that you're making these. Hope this helps.

Interesting observation, and one I can elaborate on.

There have been two batches of these, the first with hand polished aluminium scripting and the second with industry polished stainless. I think you have the latter. You can identify this by looking at the back - if your scripting is attached by screws, they will be aluminium - if they're epoxied, they'll be stainless.

Polished aluminium is what the factory used, so I replicated that initially. Aluminium however is soft, oxidises quickly when uncoated and is susceptible to scratches/stone chips/dulling etc and in this application they are highly prone to all of those things. I designed serviceability into this first batch (hence the screws); if required, the scripting can be removed and re-polished, or simply replaced but this is tedious.

For the later batches I switched to #8 polished stainless in order to provide a higher quality, more robust and maintenance free solution. These are polished to a higher mirror, but the tone of the base metal can influence surface appearance in certain light which may explain your observations.

Cheers,

Christian

Hi there,

Not currently. As these are now showing NLA across the board however, I'll look at reproducing them as soon as I have a core to work from.

Thanks,

Christian.
