E28 M5 rear bumper

Post by rustedwallet »

I wanted to get a rear bumper for my e28. The m5 rear bumper would look perfect but can find any instal direction. I was wondering if anyone had some details on that or experiences with it. Also where is the best place to order them from?

The US bumper or the € bumper?

What is on the back of your car now?

Lots of threads on changing from US to € bumpers.

Asking in the for sale/wanted to buy forum is the easiest way to get a bumper for these cars.  But using the part numbers you can find vendors that can get what is available for you.  A US rear bumper without any hardware is about 500 for a new regular one.  The black M5 one is gone from stocks as mentioned below

According to realoem.com the US specification rear bumper is not available new anymore, so you'd have to find a used one somewhere ( I didn't look up the euro bumper; you could check realoem for that style but I suspect they aren't available anymore either.  The only difference from a regular e28 bumper is it's black, so you could paint your existing bumper to get the same effect.  In any case, if you change the rear bumper it would make sense to change the front one as well so they match.

If the goal is to change over to euro style bumpers, I remember several years ago someone in the far east (I think Vietnam) was making reproduction euro bumpers.  I haven't checked lately to see if they're still available but you could do a search here to find the discussion.
