During the past few days, I've been having issues with posting messages or respoding. Even if I'm logged in, and I want to reply, I am prompted to enter my username and password. Once done, it will ask me again...and again. Sometimes it will ask me 5 times before it accepts it. Yes, I'm typing carefully.
Why is it asking me to re-log in once I'm already in? It's really frustrating! Could it be my company's firewall/smart filter? Last week it worked fine.
Re-logging in Constantly
No, because those are stored on the local computer, not the firewall. Best we could figure when I discussed it with Justin is that it has something to do with the session ID, which phpBB is apparently quite picky about.wkohler wrote:Well, couldn't it be that some firewalls delete cookies and temporary internet files routinely, which would reset the logon info?
There is no workaround that I've been able to find, unfortunately. It behaves the same way in IE and FireFox regardless of cache/cookie/security settings on the local machine.

My experience with firewalls is slim, but if the computer is on a network, couldn't there be some sort of action that routinely deletes these files (coming from the software aspect of the firewall)? Just at thought, and if I am completely mistaken (both in reality and theory), feel free to tell me I'm an idiot - been hearing it a lot lately.
Not an idiot, just mistaken. There's firewall software that you can run on your home computer. This is not the type of thing we're talking about. This is a piece of hardware/software that sits between the computers on the work network and the big, bad internet outside. It disallows certain types of data from flowing through it. The files (cookies) still exist on the workstation, but can't communicate with the website properly, thus making the website not work as it should.
