Recently, I have been searching for information I know I found on here, but wasn't coming up in a search. I then figured out it was when X was selling Y. Well, that was wee bit in the past, so under the new policy, it was deleted.
Not much discussion arose when the "45 days without activity and it's yer head" policy came about, so I thought I would ask why, oh why this came about. Did those posts take up that much space?
Anyway, thanks for the great work. I just wanted to know why.
Question about the FS/W Forum recent changes
Fewer posts in the forum as a whole reduces the stress on the search engine and makes it work better since it has fewer keywords to keep track of. I guess I could shut off the auto-prune since we've got an integrated Google search though.
I just don't understand why anyone would have any use for an old FS post I guess. People kept finding them in search and asking if an item in a 6 month old ad was still available. Most times, the poster of the ad wasn't even on the board any more.

Hahahaha... it's not unheard of for folks to drag up one- or two-year-old posts about parts!Jeremy wrote:I just don't understand why anyone would have any use for an old FS post I guess. Well, the reason I asked was sometimes a discussion arises in these threads (I'm sure you haven't noticed - it's not that often). Then someone comes in with some exciting piece of information I think I need. Then I get mad because I can't find it. I'm not saying put them back or anything, I was just curious as to why it was done in the first place.
Thanks for your candor.
