Urgent Urgent Urgent, Lug nuts needed!!!

Post by e34 530 »

As expected, nothing can go smoothly when working on these cars. I went to install my freshly mounted e34 tires/rims on the e28. Now of course the lug nuts from the BBS TRX rims are much longer so they rub the dust shield. Now I'm stuck. I only have 5 of the lugs from the spare tire and I need to use the car in the next few days. My first question is

1. I can use the stock e28 bottlecap lugs on the e34 rims, correct?

2. You think these are legit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20-Chrom ... enameZWD1V

3. Anyone have about 20-25 lug nuts they'd like to sell me if the above ones are not good.

If the lug bolts are too long:

1. Place a lug bolt thru one of the BBS wheels and measure the amount of the threaded portion projecting above the mating surface of the wheel.

2. Place a lug bolt thru one of the E34 wheels and measure the amount of the threaded portion projecting above the mating surface of the wheel.

3. Grind or cut the lug bolt so that the lug projects the same distance out of the E34 wheel as they do on the BBS wheel.

This is not the easiest solution to your dilemma, the lug bolts are HARD, but it is one way if you have access to the tools.

If you decide to cut your lug bolts, you need to put a nut on them first. When you take the nut off, it will re set the threads on the end of the bolt. If you don't, its likely you'll never be able to thread them into anything.

Nah, I'm not goinbg to cut the BBS ones, if I ever decide to use them again I'll probably never find the correct lugs.

i do but i wont be able to ship until monday if you do paypal

i got fucked too many times this week on costs for other people that i wont get back and wont have any money to spend at the junkyard

there is a flat rate USPS box, its priority and takes 3 days, thats 8.95
if you do that, the total for paypal is 20.50. that doesnt include tracking or delivery confirmation, or insurance

i CAN ship it tomorrow but the cost is going to end up being 32 total

thats your options if you go with me

all your base are belong to us

I'll go with the the "paypal wait to ship on Monday" because my parents pwned me and said I can't drive the e28 tomorrow anyway, so send me your e-mail address and I'll send you the 20.50. Since I can't drive the e28 tomorrow, all your base are belong to my lame parents. :(

Its a shame no one local could help you out man. Heck, if I had lugs laying around, I would meet you 1/2 way between NYC and NJ. Damn. Glad someone came to the rescue.

When you get the new wheels on her, PM me. Maybe we can meet up?

Looks like you already purchased some lugs, but I thought I would mention that the last time I needed a set, I went down to my local Les Schwab and bought all 20 for $25.00. Had them them immediately. Take it easy.
