So i wrote a huge thing and then went to upload some pics and my laptop froze... grrr Anyway
so i have a new project.... its an e30 but you guys are my family so this is where i choose to put it. Anyway, minor side story, the guy i bought the car from is actually apparently a ledgendary dick in the e30 community, had i known, i dont know if i would have bought it again but i still believe the owner makes the car not the former dink. With that said there was some good that the original owner did, you will see and then i will go from there. The car had a good chance of going to the wreckers before i came because no one in their right mind would have thought to reserect this car besides me. The PO had turbo charged the 87 325is utilizing the seta block and is head, managing to get to the 445hp number before blowing it up on the dyno running 28psi and 100 shot.

So it was a pretty nice car but if you are familiar with the e30 scene you may now know a bit more about the car, if not then its not important.
When i got the car the wiring harness, fuse box, most of the interior, the fuel tank, and spare wheel well were all gone and poorly removed the car was a wreck. Its coming along slowly but fixing one persons attempt at making a function built race car and bringing it back to a street car is not a small feat, especially when i dont really think he knew what he was doing.

so what am i doing you ask.....
well i got rid of all motor crap that came with the car but kept the good stuff, he had given me the blown motor, a used seta block the head he apparently spent 6g's on including cam, oversized stainless valves, custom ground cam, with port and polish and flow tested, custom intake manifold, tubular manifold, blah blah blah, i didnt want his shit, once that was out of my garage and it was at my shop i bought an 85 325e for 300$ and gutted that for its interior and wiring harness with fuse box. and a whole whack of other stuff. got rid of the cheesy vinyl obx racing seats and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, then welded up and cleaned up the engine bay which he was so nice to cut all the brackets out of for me.
Well seeing as i also had another 533i parts car with the whole drive train and everything i needed to do the m30 swap i started ordering parts for the swap including the ms3x install. Todd has helped me out with the flywheel and sensor, fukoa with the tps and pig tail, canyon carver with the oil pan and pump and a 25mm master cylinder, otis (goodandtight) with the engine mounts.
so with the motor out of the 533i and sitting getting ready for me to build, i have been compiling parts and fitting panels and the new hood and trunk as well as converting the car to hydroboost.
The car came with a bunch of stuff that i have decided to utilize. IE the Z4M coupe steering rack, Carbon fiber hood, trunk and sunroof panel.

So the plans....
M30B32 swap, ms3x with boost control, water meth, borg warner s366 bullseye performance turbo, pletty well stock looking interior, smaller less gay wheels, small stuff like paint the bright red corvette Z06 brakes black or gold, and hopefully over 450hp at the wheels. The motor will be rebuilt, head studs, o-ringed, 6 puck clutch and im thinking of going with abs fender flares for wider rubber and a 5 bolt conversion.

i do too, i didnt pick any of this stuff out but i would rather the cf stuff then nothing as the PO must have scrapped or sold the original parts, so in an attemt to appease my boss and not make my shop look like a wrecking yard i made the car look "whole" again. I really dont like alot of the car as a whole but some of it i really like and i knew buying it what ever i didnt like i could sell. The bumper is not my favorite but it is a super rare, as in just one, front bumper made in ABS plastic. And there is quite the controversy over it, the rear is a rieger and i think the sides are custom too.

subscribed. Glad you took the turbo sticker off. It just didn't seem like it should go there.
Made a bit more progress. Took the block with me to school to have it washed. Turned out really nice. Got the motor mounts from Otis very nice work. Still have to see the placement once it is in but they look like they will work well. Started cleaning the pistons and rotating assembly, rings were completely carboned up oil holes in the pistons were plugged shut. Soaked the pistons for 5 days in spray nine degreaser and scrubbed looking good so far.

Need to send out the block for o-ringing unless moose head is able to rent it to me soon.

UPDATE:
So I haven't had time to breath for a while, let alone keep you guys up to date on the turbo project, but i will attempt to catch you up from where i left off.....
last time i left you guys in suspense i was cleaning the pistons and inspecting all the stuff i had to know what i needed. block was checked and had almost no tapper what so ever, just grimmy lines from the plugged up oil control rings. The pistons and connecting rods came out looking brand new....
so then i went to shopping for the build. complete refresh of the bearings and gears and chains, water pump, honed the block with a ball hone. new rings, most of this all came from azautohaus
everything was plastigauged and mic'd and surprisingly, even after the donor car said 465,000 km on the speedo, everything measured perfectly. .0015 on the cons, .002 on the mains. .014" on the ring end gaps cylinder tapper was .001", how i don't know. no cylinder head variation in any direction.
So i went to rebuilding the head and replaced the non existent valve seals, ground new seats in to the exhaust valves and cleaned everything.

so i waited and waited for a groove-o-matic to use and none came up then i contacted machine shops that made no promises of getting the grooving done right or how much it would cost other then around 5-700$, so i bought the isky tool.
after that installed the head studs i got from todd
then i continued to build
also installed the clutch from todd
and these 79lb/hr injectors
once that was built used otis's motor mount and new new motor bushing and a sledge hammer and got it in.
then proceeded to build the manifold, other then cylinder 4 they are almost all equal length and as usual it was really really tight.

so with the motor in with tranny, manifold, turbo installed i went to wiring it. out came the 75,000,000 wires of the ms3x unit and started trimming the fat. The car is setup with sequential injection, i built a cam sensor using a vr and i made an "arm" that mounted to the factory press on style cam stub. the car was also setup for the snow water methanol injection, utilizing one of the spare injector banks. the boost controller valve from diy was also wired in. launch control and fan control for the 14" flex front mounted fan.
during the build i also flipped the throttle body on the manifold.
The brakes were also finished off with a brake balance valve installed in the rear lines(po had said rears locked up to early)
