I need to think about that. I think CR effect MBT and allows the engine to accelerate faster but I'm not sure about VE.
Where's my Heywood book?

Wow. Just wow. And I figured all the snide remarks about half-assed builds were pointed at me. What a dick.

Is that a guilty conscience nagging you Dan?
Why can't I point out a few facts, however unsavory, and state my opinion without being called a 'dick'? I respect shade-tree hacks for what they are, but let's call a spade a spade. I prefer to go about things differently. There's something to be said for making good power from junkyard parts and a baby-six but our objectives differ.
Obviously there is at least some truth to my statements otherwise they would have generated a response rather than a cop out.
Todd: Thank you for standing behind your parts. I still feel TCD offers the best (only?) off-the-shelf turbo setup for E28's.

I'll say one last time.

Its generally a good idea to throttle your mouth back until you actually get your inherently superior project on the road. Its also bad form to trash the work of others to make your build look better. You would be suprised what kind of work a shade tree "hack" actually does. Theres a good chance it would be better than yours.
If you think I doubt the reliability or results of my own build thats something you came up with on your own. I'm daily driving mine, as I have on and off for years. Every problem I've ever had has been due to abuse beyond what the motor could have been reasonably expected to handle. Severe detonation, etc. Shit doesn't just break because its old, and I don't run parts that aren't serviceable. None of that means you need to spend thousands of dollars on a build. I didn't find a turbo cam, brand new valvetrain, GT35R, Megasquirt or anything else in a junkyard either. I've actually never sourced any parts from a junkyard. Not sure where you're getting that.

IMO, properly selected junkyard parts will outperform improperly selected new parts.
Dan, you da man!.

Been a while since we had a good old fashioned Forced Induction flame thread.

Yeah, but everyone back then had cars that had moved at least ten feet with a turbo installed.

Dan: Again, you're sensing all my negative comments are directed at you. Why is that? I've stated my respect for your skills but pointed out we have different goals. Is that not enough? Why do you care how much I choose to spend on my build? It's my money and my time to waste as I see fit. Your cars have dyno'd well in the past and you enjoy driving them. Awesome, enjoy. Are you going to come help me "throttle my mouth"? Perhaps you should think twice before throwing out internet tough guy comments. Chances are you just might get your chance some day and be surprised by the outcome.
Duke: You know how people are around here, they get their panties in a wad every time someone offers any criticism.
Chris: As usual, I seem to be a magnet for flame threads. People choose to take offense to my comments. That's their problem. Yes, my heap has been on jacks for over a year, and likely will remain that way for another year but at least there's progress. A couple hours a night in the garage doesn't go far when trying to get things right the first time.
How's that fleet of yours coming? I don't envy your position of attempting to restore all those cars with limited resources.

A constructive critique from the knowledge of experience is one thing. Half-hearted "compliments" surrounded by thinly veiled insults are another. I don't critique much here even though I've BTDT on a good bit of it. The difference between me and you? I have some actual running mileage under my belt. My build got off paper and onto the street. Until yours does the same, you would do well to keep your criticisms on anything involving what you think is the "right" way to do something in check.

I don't take kindly to personal threats of any kind on this website.
This will be your only warning.
