Megasquirt ebc problem.

Post by Shadow »

Hey I'm trying to get this thing working but ran into a wall.

I posted this on other forums so I can get this pile working as fast as I can.

Hi.
I THINK I wired it right.

Problem is when I power the car it'll slam shut.
Car off, it'll stay open, unpowered.
But when I choose inverted in the settings it'll stay open, instead of going closed.
and I'm using the DIYautotune solenoid.Thanks.

This is how I wired it so, if anyone could offer any advice that would be awesome!

Wire from "in" going through proto area going to js11.

How I have it coming out of the box.

I don't know anything about boost DUTY tables, so I'd suggest using closed loop to begin with - the fact that you can open or close the valve by changing settings is a good sign, and that suggests to me that the controller just doesn't know WHEN to open or close it.

What wastegate spring do you have?

Also, 38Hz is the proper frequency for that solenoid i believe

Thanks for replying.

It operates on a frequency of 19.5-40 Hz
I"ll look into that.

Yea the valve will close/open but only by changing the invert(open)/normal(closed) setting.
Not even the enable/disable does anything.

Going from 0 to 100 doesn't change a thing. It's either open/closed depending on the invert/normal.

I'll mess with closed loop and post back but I just don't see
that working if open loop doesn't.

Don't know the boost rating, but it'll hit 17psi and creep down to 14psi.
The vid is in my sig.

I just want a solid flat psi line.

I'm no electronics expert (took a couple of basic courses almost 25 years ago in college!) but if what you are calling a diode is what you are showing welded between the transistor outermost pins or legs, that is a resistance not a diode. That might be your problem.

The diode is across the solenoid, not the transistor (back EMF protection)

Ahh you see that I'm no expert? LOL I don't know why when I saw that my mind connected them!

Thanks for posting. Diode didn't come with the kit
so I'm guess the solenoid has it's own protection.

Wait, are you testing with the engine not running? I'm pretty sure boost control doesn't do anything until you're above 100kpa - maybe lower that threshold for bench testing just in case

ClosedLoop is TPS based so I can open the throttle by hand and it'll shoot from 0% to 100%.

ClosedLoop should be done after I know the system works with OpenLoop.
