Hey guys i have now started to notice a pattern in my car as of late. If the the gas goes below the half way line (kinda around 3/4 and less) the car will run hotter than when the tank is full. I just filled the tank this morning and noticed it ran nice and cool. Didn't really go passed 11-12 mark. When the tank gets below that certain point metioned above it tends to go past the 12:00 range. Sometimes a little further.
Also the gauge jumps back to the cooler part when im going up hill, sometimes down hill. It jumps back to the cooler area, around 11. I know something is up. I was thinking the coolant temp sensor. Any ideas?
The only thing i can think of is back when i got the car about a month after i replaced the thermostat. It was a whalen thermostat. I replaced with one from BavAuto. They carry a carlstat if im not mistaken. Anyway the thermostat that comes with the BavAuto one didn't have a gasket that was like the one on there before. They looked smaller, not as thick. Well i put the new thermostat in and new gasket and hooked everything up and started the car. I noticed how the car ran hotter than it used to. Mind you the car never went passed 11 and rarely got to 12 before i changed the thermostats and gaskets out. I then proceded to put the old bigger gasket (still in good condition) in place of the new one. After that the car ran alot cooler like it used to. Stupid me should have left well enogh alone. Now its starting to act as decribed above. Thats about it. What do you guys think? Thanks for reading.

I agree with Duke, there's no way the amount of fuel in the tank affects engine temp, but the SI board (it's accessible from the back side of your instrument cluster and has batteries that must be renewed periodically) and can give erratic readings on any of the instruments in the cluster. Odds are very high (90+ percent) that the SI board is the culprit.
