VGT Turbo

I REALLY like the VGT turbo on my friends 6.7L cummins in his ram. Instant spool up just makes me smile like a little kid. Has anyone put one on an M30? I Noticed it is a Holset turbo and the little box attached to control the turbine side is its own little computer that is only controlled by EGT's and boost levels. I doubt it would even be possible since an M30 is a completely different animal from the 6.7, and was asking because my friend ditched the turbo for a normal one to run more boost (it is a stupid fast truck and makes 900me Lb-Ft of torque) and he said I could have it the VGT for free!
Thoughts?

3.5L is indeed different than a 6.7L. You want your post back?

the he351vgt is huge but i think it could be a awesome turbo on a m30, the exhaust housing i think runs from a 7cm to a 21 or 24cm, i looked into installing one on a modified 745 manifold in my shark but got distracted and never went past mockup. i figure it would need about 1" sectioned out of the frame rail to clear, maybe more if you ran the control box, i was going to start off with the rack locked till tuning was well under way and then use a linear actuator run by pressure switches to have a couple preset positions

the cummins is twice the size but turns half as fast so its not that far off, people have used hx35 and hx40s on tons of motors smaller then a m30 with pretty good success

M635CSI brought up another interesting problem, diesels run much lower EGT's than gasoline powered mills, so maybe E85would be a viable alternative (thanks M!) Damn yeah that is a honking massive turbo, top mount for sure. Well i have this free turbo and it is yelling 'BOOST' at me....

My M30 runs an HX35, and it is the awesomeness!
Just saying.

No offense Winfred, but sarcasm is my weakness, especially when in the auto.motive field.

With all of this desktop racing, has anybody looked at the compressor map?

I was wondering the same thing.
Turbos don't care how big your engine is, how many cylinders it has, or how fast it spins. The only thing the turbo cares about is how many CFM of air it is supplying and at what pressure.
