Background Info:

I own an aftermarket company called Open Road Tuning. We specialize in suspension and have a reputation of building high quality, award winning cars. We were one of the first companies to develop a bolt in kit for the e30 chassis. Many of you are familiar with 'Rusty' - Mike Burroughs' e28. We provided the entire suspension kit for that car. We've had 40+ customers in PVW, PBMW, Euro Tuner, USDM Freax, etc.

The Project:

This winter my buddy sold his e90 330i and decided he wanted to pursue his dream of building a weekend warrior. The base would be an e30 and the motor would be something with a monster turbo. After speaking with countless sources (mainly Otis aka Good & Tight), we've decided to go with the M30b34 block paired with a b35 head.

The Plans:

m30b34 block
m30b35 head
Schrick Cam
VAC Valves / Springs / Retainers
Aeromotive FPR
Bosch 044 Fuel Pump
950cc Injectors
Megasquirt II Management
Getrag 260 Trans
LSD
CNS Racing Clutch / PP
M5 Single Mass FW
GT3582R Turbo w/1.06 A/R
Custom Intake Manifold
Mishimoto Intercooler w/ custom 3" Piping
Mishimoto Oil Cooler
TiAL Wastegate
TiAL BOV
Innovate Wideband AFR
RSI Exhaust Manifold
Custom 3" Exhaust

While this isn't the e30 forum, this forum has been the best resource for m30 turbo information and builds. Everyone on here has been extremely helpful and friendly when it comes to providing information.

Looking forward to updating this as we move forward with the build, but I can assure you this won't be a daily updated thread.

Thanks for looking!

Did you get a manifold from Otis?

Not yet, that's going to be ordered when the build moves forward. We need to address the shell first and fix some smaller issues.

I didn't see pistons in your list. A b35 head on a b34 block yields a less than ideal 7.4CR. You don;t want that along with a tubular manifold. You will be looking a a very laggy setup.

So what you're saying is that running a head spacer on a b34 is ideal as opposed to swapping the head?

Any recommendations on which trans will work best with this setup? I've heard the 265 is the way to go but that's not really been confirmed.

Nothing wrong with a 260. I would use whatever you can find in good condition. The failure point will be the synchros if you shift aggressively. Double clutching on high RPM upshifts is a PITA but it alleviates the problem.
