Fuel pump help

Alright guys... I've searched and searched and really don't have a definite answer yet. And since I'm in a pinch and need the car running by at least Saturday I figured I'd ask.

SO I think the fuel pump went out on my car, not sure whether intank or the inline as of yet. Bought a walbro intank GSS340 and plan on deleting the inline.

My questions...
1) How do I go about deleting the inline tank and using only the new in-tank walbro?

2) Will the walbro fit fine? I heard something about needing fittings to adapt to the e28 size? Can anyone confirm the fitting size?

All help is greatly appreciated!

You need a couple of fittings. The inlet on the external pump is 12mm and the outlet is 8mm. You need a barbed fitting that will reduce the size of the line. On my car, I had to use a barb to NPT, NPT coupler and another barb to NPT fitting to make the transition since I couldn't find a fitting like what M. Holtmeier used on his pickup assembly. Hooking the Walbro up to the pickup is tricky since it's outlet is 8mm or so and the pickup tube is 12mm. The coupler BMW installed does this, but it cannot handle the pressure (the original pump was low pressure), so it will burst. You have to use fuel-injection hose. I've seen people try to use the larger hose and then clamp the shit out of it on the walbro, but I still don't see how that will seal it and prevent a drop in pressure. M. Holtmeier cut his supply tube and used a nifty barb fitting that went from 3/8 to 1/2 or something. Used a couple bits of hose and done. Worked well.
