Intake manifolds
Is anyone making intake manifolds for M30s? I need something with a tb that faces the LF headlight.
Re: Intake manifolds
are you opposed to flipping the oem throttle body to the other side of the factory mani?

Re: Intake manifolds
Yes.
Re: Intake manifolds
I remembered this thread:
http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=84617
I don't think we ever saw finished photos or exactly where/how the air got into it.
I also think there was someone who posted a solidworks drawing of an intake which had a similar design to that. Can't seem to find that at the moment.
I bookmarked this one to read further a few years back (don't think I did) after it was brought up in a thread - a quick skim had some good info on designing the plenum for somewhat even air distribution into the runners. I figure that since it's based on a 6-cylinder motor, perhaps maybe it could be the slightest bit helpful.

I remember a guy's manifold burst apart after a backfire or something - which was bad. I didn't search for his thread but it was sometime in 2009 or 2010, I think.
Beyond that, I've got nothing. I'm not an engineer and I've never stayed in a Holiday Inn Express. I know the flipped manifold thing is popular but I cannot imagine it's optimal. Very interested to see what you come up with.

Re: Intake manifolds
do you have a budget and overall power level in mind? i can build one for you.

Re: Intake manifolds
Sideways, going to PM you...
Like Chris posted above, that's exactly what I'm looking into. (Thanks for the info, btw, Chris) Flipping the throttle body on a stock manifold isn't an option as the build currently outflows it.

Well don't leave us hanging. What turbo are you using?

Nebraska beef & cowtipping is enroute to new levels! Let's do this.

You say you're manifold is restricting power?

Re: Intake manifolds
Once I get a tube exh manifold and custom intake on, I'll know for sure. It's going to be kind of a clean slate turbo system- except I'm reusing my turbo. If I still have problems at higher boost levels, then I'll know it's the turbo. I haven't been able to take full advantage of Pual Burke's cam and all the head work that was done since building this engine 2 years ago. The first year was fuel supply issues and a blown HG. The second year was low boost driving- just trying to keep it together. This year is high boost but no more power. Current turbo is TCD's 60 trim Comp Turbo upgraded with a 67mm wheel and a .83 turbine housing.
