Bmw e28 A/c retrofit

Hi guys i would like to ask if the a/c system from the e34 2.4td can be fitted to e28 2.4td? you guys probably know that the e28 a/c system is faulty and leaky,
i would like to upgrade to e34s a/c system if it can be done. any toughts or anyone did it before?
