First off, totally understand this is a BMW forum, but it's the only spot on the internet I've seen people talk legitimately about the diesel Continentals of the 80s...

So my issue has to do with the alternator. It was replaced around 20 years ago, and when it was replaced, the original pulley wasn't removed, and was given back for the core charge. Unfortunately, the case now is that the fan belt slips, and I end up having a fan belt that's too long or too short, due to the limitations of the alternator tightening system.

My question for any Continental owners out there:
Do you have a part number for the diesel alternator pulley? Or do you know if the pulley on the diesel alt is the same one for a 5.0/302 alt? Or do you have a spare you'd be wiling to sell?

Any and all info would be appreciated, and I'm extremely happy I ended up finding this forum (those manuals were a life saver!).

If the m21 alternator in the continental used the same pulley as the one on the 524td you can still get it new for ~$25.

Its a Ford alternator, so probably not the same one used on the 524td.

Most of the 302 stuff of the era was 6 rib belts, not an A section V belt.

Ford Master Parts Manual has this
p/n C5AZ-10344-K
GP-493 (Motorcraft p/n)
single groove, 2.84"

Its a part from 1965, its probably used on a boat load of cars from the mid 60s through the early 80s.
