Hi - I have a 1985 535i for sale, and probably need some advice. It runs reasonably well, but has one cylinder with some damage from the presence of coolant (but compression numbers are consistent across all 6). Let me know what you all think I should ask, currently have it listed for $600 on local FB here in Montana (so shipping in and out of here is $$$$$). open diff. I suppose I could part it but would rather not. Would love to hear your thoughts on the best way forward. Although this car drives great, what those of you who don't live with ice my not realize, E30's are significantly more balanced - the rear end on an E28 wants to go sideways way more than an E30 - so I plan to stick with my E30's. Great car, and if I lived in a warmer climate I would rebuild or replace the motor and keep rolling. (and if I had space for it) E36 wheels
More info:
Mechanic's special, one cylinder has damage and engine needs rebuild or replacement. Currently runs decently and can be driven.
The good: low mileage for the year, new fuel pumps (both the in-tank and external), new heater core, frequent oil changes, newish battery.
The bad: engine needs rebuild, shifter is somewhat loose (still works), needs muffler, brakes have rust because the car has been sitting, right rear door missing trim, one broken headlight, interior needs a little work.
