Needed for my '85 524td. MCs from the following will also work:

'87 535i without abs
'83-84 533i and 633csi

FWIW, when I replaced mine in the 524td I got it cheap from Advance Auto (back before I knew we had good resources here).

If you want a deal, try Steve Haygood... he can probably help you out.

Steve's pretty steep on the part, at least the list price on his website.

You might also want to consider the E32 master cylinder. It's a common upgrade.

What's the benefit of the e32 upgrade?

e32 is less expensive by quite a bit and has less free play in the pedal are the noticeable differences

actually 146 is an old price an needs to be updated and would be a steal, az is at 179.00 , My price for new on that part is 157 and for the e32 master is 125

I have a like new used e32 master cylinder, stored in a ziploc since I removed it. I had mushy brakes and I thought the master was bad. Swapped in a brand new one, and they felt exactly the same, so the old one wasn't the problem. It actually looked very clean and new, so I'm guessing the PO replaced it shortly before I bought the car. The old e28 one was in the trunk.

50 bucks.
