wanted: a stock radio

Post by hisownfaintsmile »

i have an 87 535iS, and the radio has gone berserk all of the sudden, and won't let me unlock it. it is cold outside, and i don't want to have to rewire my car, can someone help me out? as long as it's got a working tape deck, and will swap right in, that would be PERFECT.

thanks

Just to make sure: if you punch in the wrong code too many times (IIRC three times) it won't accept another try. You have to leave the radio turned on for (again IIRC) an hour before you can try again.

If that isn't the problem, never mind... :D

i already tried that, i've reset it many times whenever i've disconnected power or whatever in the past. it's completely unresponsive now though.. right before it stopped working, it would beep non stop when i turned the car off. i ended up resorting to pulling the fuse out to make it stop. now it doesn't even do that. dunno...

but yeah, any radios? i'm a poor student trying make it through tech school with dreams of getting into BMW STEP, help me out

I got one that came with my car. It wasn't installed with the car so I have no idea if it works. Let me know.

I recently replaced my factory deck with a Blaupunkt CD unit. It is in very good shape and the tape player works (I listened to the only tape that I still had, an Air Supply tape from college!)

Let me know if you are interested in it.

If you didn't get one yet I have the radio that came out of my 86' 535i. I'll sell it to you for $25.
