M30b32 Maxspeedingrods???

Post by r.martin »

Hello, I am wondering if anyone here has any experience with a company called "maxspeedingrods" and weather their h-beam rods for the m30 are durable? I am in the middle of a rebuild of the engine and have custom forged pistons ready to go in a b32, my engine builder has suggested that I go with an h-beam rod for logevity, I show him this listing expressing that I had some concerns about quality control and grade of alloy. He told me that many aftermarket rods do come from china and it is possible that these would be stronger than factory.

https://www.amazon.com/Connecting-M30B3 ... way&sr=8-1

My engine will be turbo, and we are trying to push 600 whp if possible. Is it possible that these parts are stronger than stock or are they likely to be a liability? Also what is the max power that has been made on stock m30 rods?

Thanks
Rob

Factory rods are forged. Certainly wouldn't replace them with Chinese parts. Rod failure is highly dependent on engine speed. What's your plan? What bore is your custom piston? Why is your goal 600rwhp? Car can't accept a tire that can handle 400rwhp.

My understanding is that our bore is slightly over stock m30b32. So possibly 89.5mm. My intention is not to push redline, although to satisfy my curiosity, how high can one push the redline on stock valvetrain? We are undecided on exactly which turbo, and we will be running MS3 ecu, we have poly mounts all around, and an unsprung 6 puck clutch. My goal was 600 as I, perhaps mistakenly, understood that to be the limit of what the stock driveline and subframe could handle.

So you max HP but gave up displacement for no reason? The block will accept a 92.97mm bore easily, resulting in +3.4L

The thought at the time was to keep plenty of wall thickness, trying to be conservative as this is my first bottom up motor build. Additionally I have a barter agreement with the builder, so it is likely that he did not want to bore out the block if he could avoid it.

I bought a set at the end of last year. The only issue i had so far was that one of the bronze bushing for the wrist pin was too tight. I have to take it to the shop to get machined (.0002-.0004) clearance
They all weigh within .01 grams of each other. They kinda seem overkill, but i like the 144mm rod length option. I would stay stock. Ill let you know how it goes otherwise!
