Please mandate that all parts For Sale ads contain a price. I think the board would benefit from it .

We can self-police this. Simply tell everyone who places such an ad telling him/her why you, personally, refuse to consider buying it and do exactly that. They'll figure it out if enough people boycott them.

I agree - if posters discover no interest in something they put up for sale, due to no price, they'll learn to put up a price, or at least, OBO.

Sorry, but I neither want to troll ads looking to ensure that there is a price, nor do I want a bunch of PMs whining to us Beamters that ad "X" doesn't have a price.

I don't know why my thread was locked, especially since the one I am posting in now is simply a repeat from one a few days ago...

I think my thread is much more relevant than this thread:

Fair enough Shawn . I still think a forum with parts For Sale should include a price ,it's the same smucks that think they have a piece of Bmw gold that play these same games over and over "pm me for a price" or "just a feeler".Put the shit on Ebay if thats the way you want to play your games.

So, you don't get why your thread about "X" that complained about there being too many threads about "X" was locked? You should've posted in this thread, as you finally did.

If I don't post a price, it's because I don't want to read the opinions of the smucks who think they can tell me what those items are worth, and what I should set as the price. You know we have all seen this plenty of times. Unfortunately, there will always be someone who just assumes they know better than the next guy.
Even If I posted a price, interested parties would still PM with questions or offers, so how much more time is really wasted?
If you don't like the way someone formats their sale thread, move along and go to next. Call or email your friends and petition to boycott, whatever. But why expose yourself as a hypocritical, arrogant spoiled brat by cursing up and down in someone's sale thread like it was a crime they were getting away with? If that sale thread caused you some kind of pain or anguish, then by all means rant away. But I imagine it would be much easier and less time consuming to deal with it by just clicking away, instead of starting a bunch of new threads trying to make or change rules that really wouldn't benefit the forum.

OK - I'll fess up: I did this once, and promptly got my ass chewed for commenting on a price I thought was out of range. I was told it was "none of your f***ing business" by several members of the community. I learned never to comment on pricing, be it high or low. I would expect the same thing to happen if somebody made a comment about a price that was not to their liking. The point, obviously, was that anyone can ask for any price they want; we don't have to pay it, of course.

I do think "PM me for pricing" is a little cheesy, personally. Even eBay requires an opening bid. I would probably not be interested in such an offering, unless it was something really special/rare/made of unobtainium/etc. And having to ask for a price, taking the time for an email, waiting for an answer ("sorry, I already sold it") seems counter-productive and inefficient. But to "require" a price or have the Beamters deal with this? No - self policing, based on your personal standards, is the answer. Don't like an ad? Don't bid. I suspect the best sales activity comes from having a price to start with.

A price also helps educate board members what something is actually worth . For instance the price of a glass Bmw moonroof has come down in price while the Red handle screwdrivers have gone up.
I was not directing this towards any seller in particular just an observation I thought would help the board.

Thanks for fessing up BRRV
Well, I get the point, and I hope everyone understands mine.
Prices will be up on my next sale thread.

I see you point, but I would think that it would be a wast of your time to deal with people that clearly cannot afford what you are selling (like those very nice wheels you have put up recently.) If anyone gripes about your price, them where to go.

Another thing I would like to see is people refraining from removing pics and prices once something is sold. That way we can gauge how much things that we want to sell or buy are worth. Obviously this is not something that we could require, just a request.

Hell let's just have a special forum to ask how much something is worth for those that don't know so they can spend a week finding out the value of some used crap off their car while some poor schmuck desperately seeking said part waits for it to show up in the for sale section with a price on it.
