the e12 m30b28 intake manifold for boosted m30b34/35 engines
the e12 m30b28 intake manifold for boosted m30b34/35 engines
Has any tuner thought of using the intake manifold from the m30b28 engine, particularly a 1978 my 530i for a boosted m30b34/35 engine?
Intake visually looks smaller in runner length and overall volume but the manifold looks cool and not like trapezoid.

That is an E12 engine bay and the hood does close. That car is a monster and immaculate throughout.9mil wrote:I'm guessing the hood doesnt close....mooseheadm5 wrote:With some work you can install newer injectors.
There are E12 turbos out there. No reason you can't use the intake if you are willing to work at it.
But I like that setup- I just require my hood to close and look stock when it is.

I need some help with the above. We need to talk next week when I pull rocker shafts.altus22 wrote:It's easy to use large body, o-ring injectors with the e12 manifold. You can use the stock e12 rubber mounts and hold downs with the injectors clipped to a b34/b35 rail. This is what I have on my Bavaria. The FPR needs to be facing the firewall though.

I've done it before. It isn't difficult. You need to bore the manifolds to clear the pintle caps or retrofit the old style pintle caps. Also, check this action out:
This is from that Alpina turbo E24 thread. Gives you an idea of what they did. Notice they used BMW injector manis and then just made their own upper mani.
I've got a milling machine and a spare set of injector manifolds if you need assistance, but it can be done with a drill and a guide bushing.

Is that an M106 fuel rail?mooseheadm5 wrote:I've done it before. It isn't difficult. You need to bore the manifolds to clear the pintle caps or retrofit the old style pintle caps. Also, check this action out:

Still around
Hey Guys,
Still around and still have the black car and it still runs great. I have not showed it much or done much of anything other than drive it around on weekends to keep things fresh, even thinking of selling it. I got onto a slippery slope with a Porsche 930 turbo slantnose, acquired a few years ago, now at 2600lbs and 500hp, it rips ass like no other. And I thought engine building was easy! Never touch one of these things! But when done, they are very sick cars that takes much nerve to hang on to and not black out....else kill yourself. I was even thinking of getting a Fla. tag which says "WIDMKR" for widow-maker. haha Anyhow, thanks for all the memories and glad you guys think of me or my car often. You guys are great!

I'll help anyone with advice, knowledge or what have you.
