okay so i already posted in this thread because that adapter looks perfect:
http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=99106
but i'll post the rest of the info in my own thread without hijacking someone elses.
I want to preface the post with this:
I realize i could just buy an on center turbo. that's not what i'm trying to accomplish here. i want to use this turbo and i have my reasons for it.
okay so i grabbed one of these
and the quality is great. single cast piece etc. problem is the angle isn't sharp enough and it's not quite tall enough either.
is there a reason i can't find anyone making these with different heights and angles anywhere on the internet? seems like everyone uses the same measurements and no one makes an adapter with an angle closer to 45 degrees.
now onto my pics.
here's how it looks on the manifold
you can see the turbo hitting the valve cover before i even get the top holes lined up.
here's approx how i'd like it to sit. i plan to build a brace for the turbo to take some of the weight off of the manifold.
help me find the right adapter. t3 to t4 with angle
You don't want to clearance the valve cover. That would require removing the turbo every time you needed to check the valves. Its also very much in the way of the spark plugs as well.
All you can do is weld up a very heavy duty adapter. With bracing it might hold up. Your #1 enemy is going to be thermal expansion. That can be hard to deal with for things like this.

i guess i do have a question for anyone here....maybe i should make a WTB thread...
does anyone here have the ability to make me an adapter? someone with an m30 and possibly a TCD manifold would likely be the best candidate to make me an adapter. i can't exactly take my car to the machine shop and leave it there for them to do test fitting and such.
